High-Level Forum on the Financial Inclusion of Forcibly Displaced Persons

A multi-stakeholder High-Level Forum on the Financial Inclusion of Forcibly Displaced Persons (FDPs) will be co-hosted by AFI and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in Berlin, Germany on 26 April 2017.

The financial inclusion of FDPs was highlighted at the 2016 AFI Global Policy Forum as an important policy area for AFI to undertake further analysis and to understand challenges and explore emerging solutions.  This topic is now also one of Germany’s key priorities under its G20 Presidency and chairmanship of the Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI) in 2017.

The forum will immediately precede several other G20 events in Berlin:

  • Responsible Finance Forum: Opportunities and Risks in Digital Financial Services, on 27-28 April 2017;
  • GPFI Forum, on 2-3 May 2017; and
  • GPFI Plenary Meeting (open to member countries and implementing partners of the GPFI) on 4 May 2017.
