Malaysia is starting a two-week interruption of non-essential activities from 18 March until 31 March, as part of the Government’s efforts to stop the spread of the Covid-19 Virus. Our staff is complying with all requirements, following the announcement of the Movement Control Order by the Malaysian Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, late on Monday, 16 March 2020.

The Movement Control Order means that all non-essential businesses and services, all religious places and all educational places are to be closed for two weeks.

AFI staff in Kuala Lumpur will work from home in the next two weeks. All activities to serve our members during this time will be carried out according to our business continuity plan using alternative modes of delivery, recently applied as a response to the consequences of the global spread of the coronavirus and canceling of AFI events. We are leveraging on telecommunications while ensuring business continuity of our organization. So far, we have already held a series of meetings with leaders of Working Groups and subgroups as we continue to work together on our deliverables. We also continue to engage with our funders and partners through telecommunications.

Please note that this is an interim measure. During this time, we kindly ask members, partners and colleagues to rely on email, whether of each unit or individual, and where necessary the responsible staff will share the cell phone contact. Each of our staff is available to assist you in all the work conducted across our network and beyond. Relevant list of emails by various AFI functions has been distributed to AFI members.

AFI will continue to keep all members, partners and funders informed about further developments.
