The global financial landscape has evolved rapidly over the past two decades, with central banks and financial regulators increasingly expected to take account of emerging priorities such as socioeconomic development and financial inclusion within their traditional mandates for monetary and financial stability. Emerging economies, in particular, have been exposed to a polycrisis environment characterized by geopolitical tensions, inflationary pressures, climate change, and social inequality, all of which complicate macroeconomic policymaking.
The IMF & World Bank Group Annual Meetings provide a good opportunity to bring policymakers from the G-24 and AFI network together with researchers and relevant strategic partners with an interest in this important topic. The roundtable aims to:
- Stocktake on existing empirical evidence linking financial inclusion, monetary
stability, and financial stability. - Facilitate the exchange of insights among global institutions and G-24 and AFI
members and partners. - Identify gaps and emerging research priorities that may be taken forward.
