Each year, the AFI Inclusive Fintech Showcase spotlights companies which are using digital innovation to boost access to quality financial services in low-income communities. In this article and video, we introduce you to the overall winner of the 2025 Showcase: Affinity.
Affinity, based in Accra, is a digital banking platform dedicated to providing affordable, accessible and inclusive financial services to every Ghanaian.
“We do this by providing a mobile app, USSD, and agency channels that provide deposit accounts, transactions, and loans to customers, most of whom never had a formal bank account,” says Affinity’s Head of Product, Michael Annor. “We don’t charge monthly or transactional fees on deposit products, and we use financial education cues to allow customers to grow, mature, and responsibly access moves.”
Affinity was founded in 2022, when it received a Savings and Loans license from the Bank of Ghana, the first of its kind granted in over 10 years, and officially launched operations in October 2024, following regulatory approval of its mobile app.
