AFI-BMZ Webinar on the “Roadmap to the Sustainable and Responsible Financial Inclusion of Forcibly Displaced Persons”
The Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) are organizing a webinar on the Roadmap to the Sustainable and Responsible Financial Inclusion of Forcibly Displaced Persons (FDPs) scheduled to be held on 23 June, 2020 from 12.00 PM to 13.30 PM (UTC).
Financial inclusion policies can have a key role in both mitigating the negative impacts of the global pandemic on FDPs’ lives and livelihoods, and in building towards a post COVID-19 world which is economically and financially inclusive for all.
Developed by an Alliance of Partners represented by financial regulators and policymakers, humanitarian and development agencies, private sector actors, and academia, the ‘Roadmap to the Sustainable and Responsible Financial Inclusion of Forcibly Displaced Persons’ intends to contribute to efforts towards tackling this specific, but multi-faceted policy challenge and offers a set of key policy recommendations for each stakeholder group involved in the financial inclusion of FDPs.
In this webinar, the invited speakers will:
- highlight the key policy recommendations presented in the Roadmap;
- share insights of the notable progress of central banks and humanitarian agencies in implementing these; and
- make recommendations for how the financial inclusion Roadmap can help build FDPs’ resilience to the COVID-19 and future crises.
Formal financial services offer vital tools to FDPs who are forced to leave their homes and/or countries due to conflict, persecution, violence, or human rights violations. These tools, when designed appropriately and backed by robust national policies and regulation, help FDPs to safely store money, send or receive money transfers, make secure payments, and build a transaction history that helps them to access services such as credit and insurance when needed.
Please confirm your participation by Friday 19 June 2020.
