AFI Leaders Virtual Dialogue for the African region is organized to share experiences on addressing the challenges of supporting financial inclusion during COVID-19 pandemic.
Purpose and outcome
Aimed to broaden the network’s knowledge base by facilitating AFI leaders with policy response options that will further reinforce in-country efforts to mitigate COVID-19 impacts on financial inclusion, to the virtual dialogue will explore the role of financial inclusion policies in crisis response. Leaders’ deliberations are expected to steer peer guidance on practical interventions that may be adapted in the network to sustain the gains of financial inclusion. In addition, the virtual dialogue will give AFI leaders the opportunity to specify demand for in-country implementation support that mitigates the impact of the COVID-19 crisis, enabling the AFI Management Unit to compile tailored in-country support activities in alignment with member needs and national policy frameworks.
Virtual dialogue modality
Virtual dialogues will be organized in each AFI region due to time zones differences with discussions region-specific issues. Moderated by AFI Executive Director and focusing on facilitating discussions on peer learning and AFI support interventions, each leaders’ dialogue will last for at least 90 minutes AFI Management Unit will develop key policy responses and share with the leaders following each Virtual Dialogue, Consolidated policy responses from all regions will be shared with the network.
