AFI is organizing a Virtual Public-Private Dialogue (PPD) on 31 March 2021 from 12:00 to 14:00 UTC.
This meeting will convene AFI members and private sector partners for strategic and thoughtful discussion about practical Public-Private collaboration to advance financial inclusion in rural areas, with a special focus on women and girls. The majority of the populations (52.9 percent) in AFI member countries reside in villages and other non-urban areas. AFI members represent 77.6 percent of the world’s total rural population. Consequently, the advancement of rural financial inclusion is a high policy priority in many AFI member jurisdictions.
The PPD meeting will provide representatives from the public and private sectors the opportunity to jointly identify the most significant barriers inhibiting financial inclusion in rural and discuss how to minimize these barriers through innovative policy and market actions.
Insights articulated during this dialogue will be the basis for a new knowledge product on rural financial inclusion, which will be developed subsequently by AFI. Additionally, the insights will support AFI members in the advancement of rural financial inclusion by informing their collaboration with the private sector in their national jurisdictions.
