What are the objectives of the training?
In recent years, regulators and financial sector supervisors have become increasingly aware that financial services are addressing financial inclusion challenges such as vulnerability to cyber threats. The Member Training will introduce participants to the recent AFI publication on Cybersecurity for Financial Inclusion: Framework and Risk Guide that provides key principles and best practices to assist regulatory and supervisory authorities in devising tools for the financial sector to deal with cybersecurity risks.
At the end of the training, participants will be able to effectively contribute to a national cyber security strategy, based on global best practices. To enable this objective, participants will be able to:
- List the key components of an effective customer- centric cybersecurity strategy
- Identify the key principles and best practices in dealing with cybersecurity risks and strengthen cyber-risk management for financial services, as detailed in the Guide
- Apply their learning to manage, monitor and mitigate cyber risks, especially those that affect the people at the base of the pyramid (e.g. low income, women, elderly)
Who should attend?
The training is intended for senior officials of AFI member institutions who are leading the work on developing policies/frameworks/guidelines/strategies on cybersecurity who may come from National Payments System, Bank Supervision, Information Technology, Data Protection Units.
