What is the Training About?
The training will cover:
- Approaches by AFI to promote better understanding of good practices and cost-effective policy tools on consumer empowerment and market conduct regulations
- Approaches in regulation, supervision and enforcement of fair, responsible and professional market conduct
- Linkages between behavioural economics and financial inclusion
- Leveraging on behavioural insights to improve financial inclusion policies
- Tools to measure financial capability
- Avenues for consumer redress
Who Should Attend?
The programme is relevant to middle to senior level officials from central banks or regulatory authorities involved in the development, implementation or enforcement of consumer protection, market conduct and financial education policies.
At the end of the programme, participants would be able to:
- Appraise the need to balance between ensuring sufficient consumer protection and overregulation.
- Identify key institutional arrangements to ensure robust consumer protection and empowerment regime.
- Apply findings from behavioural economics assessment into financial inclusion policies.
- Identify approaches to measure the impact of initiatives to promote financial capability.
The event is a practical and interactive programme and participants are expected to share their country experiences, actively participate in the exercises and discussions. They would also be required to develop an action plan during the event and commit to its implementation.
