What are the Objectives of the Training?
The need to appreciate financial inclusion within an anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML-CFT) context has been largely accepted. Even then, AFI member institutions find it challenging to align the dual policy objectives of both financial inclusion and financial integrity. This Member Training will introduce participants to the upcoming AFI publication on Inclusive Financial Integrity – A Toolkit on Aligning Financial Inclusion and AML-CFT that provides practical guidance on the issue especially with respect to the formulation and implementation of related policy and regulation.
At the end of the training, participants will be able to effectively contribute to policy development that addresses the intersection between financial inclusion and AML-CFT. To enable this objective, participants will be able to:
- Understand the concept of inclusive financial integrity and the interrelated components of AML-CFT structures and processes
- Explain the approaches to engage with the country frameworks and processes that support financial inclusion and financial integrity, as detailed in the Toolkit
- Apply their learning to promote regulatory and technical innovations, and facilitate the inclusion of women, youth, SMEs, FDPs and others, while effectively combatting ML-TF.
Who Should Attend?
The training is intended for senior officials from the Financial Intelligence Unit, Supervision and Surveillance and Financial Inclusion Departments of AFI member organisations who are involved in the formulation and implementation of policy and regulation that advance both financial inclusion and financial integrity. The training will follow AFI’s model of peer learning and will be led by technical experts from the global AFI network, AFI Management Unit.
