COVID-19 and the Role of BigTechs and Digital Platforms in Response and Recovery
AFI is organizing a webinar on COVID-19 and the Role of BigTechs and Digital Platforms in Response and Recovery, at 13:00 UTC on 14 May 2020. This webinar is open for the members of AFI Working Groups only.
Implemented by countries around the world to curtail the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, mobility restrictions are resulting in business closures, dwindling income and economic pressures across all segments. BigTechs and digital platforms are responding to the global emergency by pivoting and innovating ways to support citizens, maintain the supply and delivery of essential groceries and necessities, keep small businesses running remotely, facilitate contact tracking, support governments with rapid disbursement of financial support and more.
The AFI network-wide webinar with a plenary of BigTech leaders, ecosystem experts and financial regulators will discuss the role of BigTechs and digital platforms in response to the global emergency, the linkages on deepening financial inclusion, as well as how these technology players align and support regulatory measure and policy interventions. Topics include digital infrastructure resilience, provision of essential services such as groceries and deliveries, payments and financial services, cybersecurity and fraud, compliance and measures to check high risk, AML/CFT transactions, and other broader policy and regulatory concerns such as data protection, data privacy, competition, awareness/education and consumer protection.
