International Conference on the Linkages between Financial Inclusion and Financial Stability
Type of Event: Global Conference
Partnership: In Collaboration with Bank Indonesia
What is the Conference About?
To what extent does greater financial inclusion enhance or undermine financial stability, and vice versa? The question is an important and policy-relevant one for policymakers and regulators that are mandated to promote both financial inclusion and financial stability objectives. Existing research points to possible synergies between the two objectives, but knowledge on how to achieve such synergies in practice only begin to emerge.
The main objective of the conference is to share practical knowledge and formulate action plans to advance the understanding on the policy/regulatory issues related to financial inclusion – financial stability linkage. The conference will convene AFI members, global Standard-Setting Bodies (SSBs), academic communities, and other stakeholders. Topics include: implication of digital financial services, innovative lending practice, SME finance, and emerging FinTech on financial stability, potential impact of consumer empowerment measures on financial stability, and proportionate applications of global standards that balance financial inclusion benefit and financial stability risks.
