MSME recovery is one of the priorities for AFI’s members and private sector partners in Africa and beyond. The members and the private sector have implemented a variety of support measures ranging from the digitization of basic MSMEs operations, the creation of a portal to enable MSMEs to go digital and connect with larger business partners, as well as the launch of more comprehensive programs and solutions to enable MSME to drive efficiency and sales. Scaling up support for MSME recovery in Africa will require a robust coordinated, gender and youth-sensitive strategy as well as collaboration between regulators and the private sector.
The virtual event is designed to discuss public and private sector solutions to support MSMEs recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic in Africa. To enable this, the meeting will address the following objectives:
- Discuss on the current state of MSMEs in Africa after the Pandemic hits for almost two years
- Focus on recovery interventions: regulatory and market solutions: AFI COVID-19 Policy Response and Dashboard
- Note the specific gender and youth considerations for MSMEs and green recovery measures
- Identify market trends and public-private solutions to support MSME recovery in Africa
