AFI is organizing a virtual meeting on “Data Privacy for Digital Financial Services” on 18 May 2021 from 09:00 to 11:00 UTC.
The meeting is intended for technical staff from AFI member institutions in Africa and it provides an opportunity for financial sector policymakers and regulators, private sector players, and other data privacy experts to exchange views on Data Privacy for Digital Financial Services (DP4DFS) in context of Africa. The participants will discuss policy and regulatory aspects of data privacy from emerging market perspective, especially within the context of response to the effects of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The event will dwell upon the relevance of data privacy for financial inclusion deepening, with regards to inherent risks for the vulnerable segments of the population such as women, youth, elderly, and small businesses. Further, the meeting will refer to AFI’s guideline note on “Guideline Note on Data Privacy for Digital Financial Services” in structuring and facilitating the discussions.
