Securing development gains and building resilience
Smart Policies for Green Financial Inclusion
What are the objectives of the conference?
The Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) and Reserve Bank of Fiji (RBF) will co-host a conference on “Smart Policies for Green Financial Inclusion: Securing development gains and building resilience” on 26-27 November, 2018 in Nadi, Fiji.
The conference is an important milestone following the Sharm El Sheikh Accord on Financial Inclusion, Climate Change and Green Finance that the AFI network adopted during the 2017 Global Policy Forum (GPF) in Egypt. The Financial Inclusion and Climate Change (FICC) program is part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI), supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU).
Highlights of the conference include:
- Launching the AFI Green Financial Inclusion workstream along with recommendations on how to integrate the workstream into the AFI network
- Presenting preliminary findings of AFI’s research in financial inclusion and climate change, and taking stock of good policy examples within and beyond the AFI network
- Discussing options on how to embed the FICC workstream into the global climate change agenda beyond AFI
Who should attend?
Technical and mid-senior level officials from AFI members who previously have expressed interest in policy solutions to foster financial inclusion and climate change. The conference will also include other relevant government authorities, private sector participants, international organizations and representatives of academia.
How to register?
Invitations will be sent via email to AFI focal points of member institutions. Feel free to get in touch with us at events@afi-global.org if you have any questions.
