Global Standards Proportionality Working Group (GSPWG) and Inclusive Green Finance Working Group (IGFWG) Technical Webinar – Climate Change, Financial Stability, and Inclusive Green Finance

AFI is organizing a webinar on Climate Change, Financial Stability, and Inclusive Green Finance on Thursday 6 August 2020 at 12:00 (UTC/GMT).

Policymakers in AFI network and globally have identified the economic and financial losses brought about by climate change as a significant threat to financial stability. Climate change is also associated with severe socioeconomic impacts that have the potential to reverse years of gains in financial inclusion in developing countries. In line with this growing awareness, global standard setting bodies (SSBs), central banks and financial regulators have increasingly participated in peer learning platforms and global dialogues to advance understanding of financial regulators’ role in climate change mitigation and adaptation.

In adopting the Sharm El Sheikh Accord in 2017, the Nadi Action Agenda in 2018, and the “4P Framework for Inclusive Green Finance” the AFI membership has advanced national commitments to mitigate the adverse impacts of climate change through financial inclusion and inclusive green finance. This webinar will explore the linkages between financial stability, climate change, and inclusive green finance policies, as well the opportunities that exist for AFI members to contribute to relevant standard setting and international processes. Confirmed speakers include representatives of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), the Financial Stability Board (FSB), and the SOAS Centre for Sustainable Finance, in addition to financial regulators from AFI’s membership.

Please confirm your participation by Tuesday, 4 August 2020.
