AFI Global Policy Forum


Papua New Guinea

The world’s leading event on financial inclusion, the AFI Global Policy Forum (GPF) brings together 700 regulators, policymakers and changemakers from around the world. The event serves as a key enabler and accelerator for financial inclusion – nationally, regionally, and globally.

Each year, the GPF is co-hosted by a different member institution. The 2026 event will be co-hosted by the Bank of Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby. During four days, central banks, financial regulators, development institutions, private sector leaders, and global partners will collectively explore how financial inclusion can support resilience, stability, trust, and sustainable economic transformation in a rapidly evolving world.

AFI members and international stakeholders will share implementation experiences, showcase evidence-based policy solutions, and forge new partnerships that accelerate inclusive and sustainable development.
About the host
Papua New Guinea has made steady progress in advancing financial inclusion. The Bank of Papua New Guinea has led key reforms, expanded digital financial services, and strengthened national coordination through institutions such as the Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion. The country has emerged as a regional leader in inclusive green finance, integrating climate considerations into financial sector development.
2026 AFI GPF logo & theme
The theme of the 2026 Global Policy Forum, “Resilient Economies, Inclusive Future,” emphasizes the need for financial systems to be adaptive, inclusive, and capable of supporting sustainable development.

The GPF logo is inspired by Papua New Guinea’s Bird of Paradise. Its circular design reflects an interconnected ecosystem, with the bird extending beyond it to signal innovation and forward movement.
