AFI and its member institution Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) signed a Letter of Cooperation in agreement to establish a collaborative framework for capacity building on 30 August 2013 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Its aim is to enhance the knowledge and skills of policymakers and regulators in pursuit of increased financial inclusion within their respective jurisdictions in a sustainable manner.
AFI and BNM will collaborate to co-design and organize structured capacity building programs targeted at middle to senior level policymakers and regulators in the policy areas of financial inclusion strategy, financial inclusion data, consumer empowerment and market conduct, small and medium enterprise (SME) financing, and leadership development.
The capacity building programs will be designed and organized to take into account input from regular engagement with AFI members and working groups regarding their learning needs.
The Letter of Cooperation was signed by BNM Governor Dr. Zeti Akhtar Aziz and AFI Executive Director Dr. Alfred Hannig.
