AFI participated in a regional workshop on microsavings held by the Association of Supervisors of Banks of the America (ASBA) from 1-2 November 2011 in Mexico City, Mexico.
The workshop’s objective was to provide a forum for ASBA’s associate members to share their experiences as well as identify best practices in regulation and supervision to increase access to formal microsavings services in the Americas.
By the workshop’s end, ASBA aimed to establish the basis for a regulatory and supervisory framework proposal that would serve as a reference for its associate members.
For both of the workshop’s sessions a “Round Table” modality was employed in which participants shared their country’s experience in the areas detailed in the agenda.
