The World Bank-IMF Spring Meetings are scheduled to take place on 20-22 April in Washington, DC. As part of this year’s meetings current G20 chairs the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (Mexico) and the World Bank, will co-host a seminar under the broad theme of “Financial Inclusion: From Principles to Action.” Taking place on Sunday 22 April, this event will help set the stage for the G20 Los Cabos Summit planned for June 2012.
The AFI network will have a strong presence at the meeting with the participation of Raul Hernandez-Cross (CNBV/GPFI Co-Chair), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria), Luis Pereria da Silva (Deputy Governor, Banco Central do Brasil) and Alfred Hannig (Executive Director, AFI).
Taking place alongside this event, the 4th Annual G24/AFI Policymakers’ Roundtable on Financial Inclusion will focus on national commitments to financial inclusion made as part of the Maya Declaration. The Roundtable will feature presentations from the Chair of the AFI Steering Committee, Njuguna Ndung’u (Central Bank of Kenya), Governor Sanusi, Claver Gatete (Governor, National Bank of Rwanda) as well as AFI’s executive director.
