Under the auspices of the 2012 theme, “The New Banking: Trust, Responsibility, Relationships”, the ‘FIS International Client Conference – Global Banking Perspectives 2012’ will be held in Dubai from 22-24 May 2012. Recognizing that global private sector players are increasingly focused on financial inclusion and are a key force in implementing successful financial inclusion policies, AFI will highlight the benefits of cooperation and collaboration between the private sector and members of the AFI network.
The 2012 conference is designed to appeal to FIS’ diversity of clients, including those utilizing the company’s core banking solutions, payments solutions, outsourcing services and back-office solutions.
AFI’s session will take place on 24 May. Entitled “Financial inclusion – the opportunities in serving the under-banked market”, the session will be led by Sung-Ah Lee, Director of Strategy and Network Development at AFI, and Carlos López-Moctezuma, President’s Chief of Staff, Comisión Nacional Bancaria y de Valores (CNBV), Mexico.
Through its participation in the conference, AFI hopes to raise global awareness of financial inclusion and the importance of the role of the private sector in its development. The AFI platform will also be promoted as an ideal solution for open dialogue between regulators (policymakers) and the private sector. In addition, the 2011 Maya Declaration and the many subsequent financial inclusion commitments from AFI members will be highlighted before the private sector audience as an opportunity to achieve mutual financial inclusion goals through innovative cooperation models.
