AFI Interim Director of Financial Inclusion Policy Gabriel Davel will take part in the BNM-IFSB Financial Inclusion Advisers Programme and Seminar on Islamic Microfinance on August 27-30 at the Sasana Kijang in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Mr. Davel is scheduled to be a speaker during the second session at 11 a.m. on the opening day to discuss the key building blocks for sustainable financial inclusion.
The seminar will cover financial inclusion as a national policy to support more equitable and broad-based economic growth and create a framework for an inclusive financial system encompassing institutional arrangements, critical support services and infrastructure. The event will also focus on critical elements that contribute to a more inclusive financial sector such as financial outreach in terms of access to financial services, financial education and product diversification with services and products at prices that are sustainable and affordable, as well as recent developments in Islamic microfinance, current practices and innovations in the industry.
Participants will better understand the important aspects of an effective regulatory framework for greater financial inclusion, the characteristics of a more inclusive financial system in terms of access, products, pricing and institutional support, and the challenges and successful practices in implementing innovative policies for financial inclusion.
The seminar is hosted by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) in collaboration with AFI and the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP).
