Former Assistant Governor, Jessica Chew, will take up the role of Deputy Governor at Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) effective January 1, 2018.

She assumes the position of Deputy Governor following the retirement of Dr Sukudhew (Sukhdave) Singh on Dec 31, 2017. As Deputy Governor, Ms. Chew will be responsible for financial sector regulation and development including payment systems, organizational development sector and centralized shared services.

Ms. Chew is a member of BNM’s Monetary Policy Committee and the Financial Stability Committee.

BNM has been a long-standing member of the AFI network since May 27, 2009 and actively participates in AFI’s capacity building programs and Working Group meetings. Ms. Chew launched the AFI Data Portal during the 2016 AFI Global Policy Forum (GPF) in Nadi, and has been an active leader in sharing her knowledge as part of AFI’s global peer learning network.
