Mobile Money for Resilience (MM4R) an initiative of the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ), created with the support of the Gates Foundation, has significantly advanced the digitization of government and humanitarian cash assistance programs, boosted financial inclusion, and supported the development of Jordan’s digital finance ecosystem.

Jordan’s National Aid Fund, which provides social payments to over a hundred thousand low-income households, collaborated with CBJ to shift their payments from cash to digital. Following two successful pilot schemes, digital payments were rolled out nationwide, and today all beneficiaries receive payments digitally, saving them time and money while resolving liquidity problems for the National Aid Fund.

“By digitizing money transfers to low-income Jordanians, enhancing money transfers to refugees, and increasing people’s financial capabilities, MM4R has significantly expanded affordable and safe access to financial services,” says Amr Ahmed, Head of Financial Inclusion at Central Bank of Jordan.
