The Pacific Islands Working Group’s (PIWG) 10th meeting will feature a wide range of discussion covering financial inclusion related issues from its members on 12-14 February 2013 in Honiara, Solomon Islands
An important topic on the meeting’s agenda will be the data project meant to assist PIWG members in the joint development of a data management framework enabling members to track, analyze and report appropriate indicators measuring the usage and benefits of financial inclusion.
Consumer protection will also be highlighted, and the working group will agree to develop a standard document that can be implemented in each member’s respective nation that will highlight the basic information financial institutions are required to disclose to consumers. Additionally, members will examine their country’s progress in areas such as microfinance, financial education and national payment systems in the presence of external experts from Bankable Frontiers, the Pacific Financial Inclusion Programme and the Commonwealth Youth Programme.
The three-day meeting will end with a closed session with participation exclusive to members where dialogue will revolve around the clarification of priorities discussed by the working group and the development of a work plan for 2013-2014.
