Soraya M. Hakuziyaremye, Governor of the National Bank of Rwanda, has been appointed as the new Chair of the Alliance of Financial Inclusion.
Speaking during AFI’s Annual General Meeting in Swakopmund, Namibia, Gov. Hakuziyaremye said that “the National Bank of Rwanda, as Chair of the AFI Board, will promote innovation-friendly fintech policies and sustainable finance, support research in emerging technologies, and shift focus to meaningful financial usage and resilience as a foundation for wealth creation.”
Gov. Hakuziyaremye paid tribute to her predecessor, Governor Ariff Ali of the Reserve Bank of Fiji, and called on AFI’s members, partners and stakeholders to stand united in advancing financial inclusion as a driver of empowerment, equity, and sustainable development.
In addition to being the first woman to chair AFI, Gov. Hakuziyaremye is the first female Governor of the National Bank of Rwanda.
