We are thrilled to announce that nominations for the 2024 AFI Global Financial Inclusion Awards are now open!
These annual global awards continue to set the benchmark for recognizing outstanding contributions to advancing financial inclusion. They honor the dedication and leadership of AFI network members and stakeholders who are driving progress in this crucial area.
This year, two award categories are back up for grabs in reflecting the evolving landscape of financial inclusion:
- The Nestor Espenilla Jr. Financial Inclusion Innovation Award: This award, named in honor of the late governor of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, recognizes AFI member institutions that have demonstrated exceptional commitment and leadership in leveraging new technologies and innovations to promote financial inclusion.
- The Global Youth Financial Inclusion Award: Open to financial regulators both within and outside the AFI network, this award acknowledges policies and initiatives aimed at breaking down the structural barriers preventing young people from accessing formal financial services. Launched in 2011, this year marks the third year we honor this award. The AFI network assumed responsibility for the award from Netherlands-based non-governmental organization Child and Youth Finance International back in 2019.
In addition to these new categories, the Awards also include recognition in the Peer Leadership Award category, covering Maya Declaration Commitment, Institutional Leadership, and Technical Leadership. No nominations are required for these awards; finalists and winners will be selected based on their contributions to the AFI Network over the past year.
Winners will be announced during a special ceremony at the 2024 AFI Global Policy Forum, co-hosted by the Banco Central de Reserva de El Salvador.
