BNM-AFI member training on instructional strategies wraps up on a high note

After an intense week of highly engaging sessions the first Capacity Building event of the year, Member Training on Instructional Strategies came to a close.

An exclusive group of participants from 10 AFI member institutions attended the training in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 11-15 February, 2019 that was hosted by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI). The participants were selected AFI members who play a key role in the design and delivery of AFI programs, and AFI staff from various units.

AFI Head of Capacity Building, Madhurantika Moulick conveyed in her closing remarks: “The key objective of this event was for us to learn to identify the learning needs of our members and design and deliver as per their requirements. Member needs are dynamic, and together, we share the onus of recognizing these changes and delivering what our members need most.”

Participants expressed their gratitude to AFI and BNM for a well-organized training. “AFI programs give us the platform to better ourselves. On behalf of participants, we’d like to thank AFI, BNM and everyone that contributed to this successful training,” expressed Clarissa Kudowor, Assistant Director of Payment Systems at Bank of Ghana, and Chair of the Digital Financial Services (DFS) Working Group.

“The conversation doesn’t end here — it carries on. We have to put into practice the skills we’ve acquired in this training,” she enthusiastically added.

Led diligently by trainer, Armi Stephanie Treñas, participants gained knowledge and acquired practical skills to perform the following:

  • Conduct an LNA for an assigned session
  • Develop a learning design for an assigned topic
  • Develop session contents based on objectives and appropriate delivery method
  • Conduct an individual demonstration of a delivery method
  • Evaluate learning sessions

Participants are expected to take an active role in AFI events this year to implement the knowledge gained and skills acquired.
