The frequency of climate change events and increased intensity has been a growing concern for many developing and emerging countries and is amongst the greatest threats to financial stability, financial inclusion and poverty alleviation.

In order to address the scarcity of data collection on green activities, this report proposes a first approach on collecting inclusive green finance (IGF) related data from the demand-side, which is necessary to assess the needs of vulnerable populations, potential economic impacts of climate events and help policymakers drive effective policy interventions.

The Inclusive Green Finance workstream is part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI), supported by the German Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), based on a decision by the German Bundestag.
