The Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority



The Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority joined the network as an Associate Member in January 2024. Established in 2017, UMRA aims to promote a sound and sustainable non-bank financial institutions sector (savings and credit cooperatives, village saving and loan associations, non-deposit taking microfinance institutions and moneylenders) to enhance financial inclusion, financial stability, and financial consumer protection among the clients. The Authority is responsible for regulating, licensing and supervising tier 4 microfinance institutions and money lenders in Uganda.
