2011 G-20 Cannes Summit ends with support for financial inclusion

The recently concluded 2011 G-20 Cannes Summit marked the sixth meeting of the G-20 heads of government in a series of on-going discussions about financial markets and the world economy. Participants included leaders and representatives of the core members of the G-20 major economies as well as representatives of other nations and regional organizations.

At its close, the summit released two documents — a Communiqué and a Declaration of the Leaders. Both documents highlight the importance of financial inclusion, providing commentary on the weakening of the global recovery, particularly in advanced countries, and reiterate the G-20’s commitment to reinvigorating economic growth, creating jobs, ensuring financial stability and promoting inclusion.
