Information to the General Membership by the AFI Management Unit

The Vice-Chairperson of the AFI Board of Directors Mr. Fazle Kabir, Governor of Bangladesh Bank, assumed the role of Chair of the AFI Board of Directors following the relinquishing of that role on 29 May 2018 by the Governor of Banco Central do Brasil, Mr. Ilan Goldfajn. Governor Goldfajn stepped away from this role owing to schedule constraints.

Banco Central do Brasil continues to be a member of the AFI Board of Directors and will be represented by its alternate delegate Mr. Mauricio Moura, Deputy Governor, Banco Central do Brasil.

In terms of Article 18.11(c) of AFI’s Articles of Association, the Board Vice-Chair assumes the position of Board Chair until the next Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the event of an unexpected vacancy on the position of Chair and the AFI Board of Directors shall elect a Vice-Chair from amongst the Board members. The AFI Board of Directors is expected to elect a new Vice-Chair at its next Board meeting scheduled for 6 August 2018. Both the new Chair and Vice-Chair will be presented to the Membership Council for ratification at the forthcoming AGM in Sochi, Russia.

The AFI Management Unit joins Governor Fazle Kabir in expressing its gratitude for the leadership and contribution of Mr. Goldfajn towards the independence and growth of the AFI network and looks forward to working closely with Mr. Mauricio Moura in strengthening the work of the AFI Board.
