With movement restrictions and physical distancing remaining in place in many countries across the AFI network, AFI events scheduled from June to September 2020 will continue to be held virtually. Events scheduled from October to December 2020 may be conducted physically as planned, depending on the lifting of traveling and physical distancing measures. For ease of reference please find below Events Calendar.
AFI Management Unit successfully conducted most of the events that were scheduled from March to May 2020 in the virtual format. We are grateful for the outstanding response from members in participating in over 50 different online events organized during this period, which included, working group meetings, technical webinars on COVID-19 policy responses and capacity building. Technical virtual meetings are continuing with the support of the membership, a clear resolve of the network during challenging times such as this.
As earlier communicated in our letter dated 28 May 2020, the Global Policy Forum that was scheduled for 7 – 11 September 2020 is cancelled and will be held in 2021, while the Annual General Meeting will be held virtually. More information on GPF in 2021 is available on AFI website.
I thank you for your commitment and resolve in supporting our Alliance and commend you for your leadership in advancing financial inclusion to address the negative impact of COVID-19 on households and business in the country, regionally and globally.
We would like to reiterate that this remains an interim measure only. We look forward to meeting you all in person as soon as circumstances allow for safe travel and the organization of physical events.
AFI will continue to monitor the situation and will keep you informed on further developments on the matter.
