State Bank of Pakistan highlights need for financial literacy in the digital era

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has organized a successful first Pakistan Financial Literacy Week, raising awareness and educating citizens on the importance of financial literacy in the evolving digital era.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, SBP Governor, Mr. Jameel Ahmad, highlighted that access to financial services is a fundamental right, and SBP’s mission is to empower every citizen with the tools and knowledge needed to participate fully in the economy.

SBP is currently implementing various initiatives to enhance access to finance, including a Refinance and Credit Guarantee Scheme for Women Entrepreneurs, a Line of Credit for MSMEs, and the Prime Minister’s Youth Business and Agriculture Loan Scheme.

Following the Governor’s speech, an expert panel discussion featuring Aban Haq, AFI’s Head of Project Management and Member Engagement, assessed how technology is reshaping the financial industry, and discussed strategies to ensure a secure and inclusive digital finance landscape.
