AFI and Agence Française de Développement to support Inclusive Green Finance policies

AFI and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) have announced an innovative, two-year global project to support and promote the development of Inclusive Green Finance (IGF) policies.

“The Global South is on the frontline of the climate crisis,” said AFI Executive Director, Dr Alfred Hannig. “This project with AFD will help Central Banks and regulators to develop and implement effective Inclusive Green Finance strategies and policies, and will raise awareness globally of IGF’s vital role in climate transition.”

“Our work with AFI over the last five years has shown that expanded access to financial services builds resilience to climate impacts,” said Elodie Vitalis, AFD Group’s representative for Fiji, where AFI’s IGF Working Group has been holding its semi-annual meeting. “Inclusive Green Finance works, and through this project we’ll be able to assist countries throughout the world to transition to a greener economy while protecting the most vulnerable.”

In this new phase of the collaboration between AFI and AFD dedicated to IGF, the objective is to foster the leadership and regulatory guidance of AFI members throughout the world by building their knowledge and capacities in IGF, supporting them to develop IGF policies, and assessing and reporting on the impact of IGF policies.
